It's all in the name...

It's funny the things that pop into your head from time to time.
Sitting here on a sunny Sunday afternoon, with no urgent jobs to be done (apart from housework which doesn't really count) I started to wonder what the weather is like where you are. My google home page tells me that it currently 18 degrees in Perth (Scotland)  and it feels lovely and warm. So I asked Mr Google, and he told me that it is 17 degrees in Brisbane. Now, I read a lot of blogs from Australia and everyone says it's winter and that it's time to get out the woolies. We, on the other hand, call this summer and get really excited about going out without socks.... We've even been out this morning to buy supplies for a barbeque this afternoon. Alfresco dining here we come !!!

Have a lovely day where ever you are.

By the way there are still a few more days to enter my Birthday Blog Giveaway BELOW

It's a very nice 21 degrees here near Toronto and climbing all the time, but getting quite humid (not so good!). Bank holiday weekend here (we seem to be celebrating the Queen's birthday!) and the weather is set to stay fair all week with temperatures in the mid-high twenties all week. The barbecue will get a lot of use this week and it's a traditional weekend for fireworks, so my border collie will be hiding in the closet / under the bed later on.

My sister lives in Australia and she complains how cold it is when the temperature drops to twenty degrees ... that's when she gets out the winter gear (and I mean real winter gear). I keep telling her she would never survive a Canadian winter (and frankly I'd rather not have to live through another one!)!

Enjoy the sunshine in Scotland, Fiona.

Probably not enough data here for real scientific analasis but I reckon we Scots are just real hardy people....
Fiona, good luck with the fireworks. My dog is a bit weird. Just sits at the back door and watches fireworks in the air. Never a murmur out of her.
Miriam, just glad I made you laugh.
And Quillary, That sounds like an average summer here in Scotland which is why we get so excited when the temp heads towards 20 degrees.

Fiona, you've reminded me of when I used to work in Bristol. When the mercury reached 20oC a colleague would say "whew this must remind you of summer back home"! I never had the heart to say it gets a wee bit hotter (last year up to 47oC) and occassionally the freak winter's day might turn up 20oC!

Its all relative though isn't it? When I lived in Montreal, they would bring out the outdoor furniture for the cafes at just over zero. Brrrr!
